RX Radio proprietor and presenter James Onen a.k.a has said Women should not be appointed in influential positions because they always complicate issues and lead to conflicts.
On Saturday last week, Pope Francis for the first time appointed a female Under-Secretary, French Sister Nathalie Becquart to the Synod of Bishops. The position gives Sister Becquart voting rights in the synod.
While speaking during The Fatboy Show on Tuesday morning, the show host Fatboy said that although that may seem like a good thing, it will in the end cause chaos in the Vatican and will lead to more complications in the world’s most popular and strongest religious circle.
“Women always complicate things. It won’t be long before we hear more sexual harassment cases and more rumors on the Vatican. I feel like his appointment is politically motivated and that Pope Francis just wants to strengthen his popularity position with the main stream media,” Fatboy said before supplementing that this is the beginning of the end for the Vatican and Catholic church’s longstanding control of it’s affairs.
He added that even in a familiar setting like Uganda, women in positions of power tend to be irrational in the way they handle issues.
“Giving you an example, I had a free-thinking debating club where men would meet to discuss global issues and we were happy until we started admitting women. Then the focus of the club shifted to men trying to impress women, women not liking the place where we were meeting and, in a few months, the club had broken up. Women care more about the setting instead of ideas,” Fatboy added.
His Co-host Olive Najjuma said Fatboy’s perception of women was very misguided.
“Vatican has sexual harassment allegations even before a woman was made part of it. Also, if the Pope is outspoken on social issues like gender inequality, political violence and much more, in my opinion, it’s about time a person of his repute did so.” Olive said.
On his friends losing focus after admitting women into the debate club, Olive said, “If your male friends couldn’t focus because they were trying to impress the women, how is that a woman’s fault? Men would rather blame everything on women than accept that they are weak and flawed beings and that’s sad!”
