Sarah: I’ve Adopted Policies That Have Helped Me Reduce My Daily Expenses

Many Ugandans have lately been struggling to, among other things, put up a meal following the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities such as food, cooking oil, sugar, and even cassava that President Museveni recently advised Ugandans to eat in exchange for bread.

This, according to the finance Minister Matia Kasaija is due to the global reopening of economies following Covid 19 restrictions and constraints on production of goods, which has now led to the increased demand of goods like oil.

This comes in addition to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine which worsened the situation given that the two countries are big producers of oil.

RX Radio presenter Sarah Apollo, during The Fatboy Show, advised the listeners on how they, like her, can now manage their daily expenses.

“When I drive, I ensure that I fuel the car to take me to where I'm going and back. So all this other business of ‘give me a ride’, if you're not going in my direction, I'm not taking you,” Sarah said.

She continued, “now I've implemented these policies that if I don't need to drive, then I'm not going to. For instance, work is quite near home, so if I can walk back in the evening, I'm just going to take a stroll.”

Fatboy was rather amused that Ugandans would rather go without food but not beer. From his observations, he hadn't seen Ugandans reducing their partying.

Sarah too, admitted that she was still partying hard. She said, “I think it's the only constant thing in my life because partying is an antidepressant and there are still clever ways you can enjoy yourself on a budget. One; everybody knows how much alcohol they need to get them to that sweet high, so just consume that.”

But Fatboy wondered why as a woman, Sarah would have to suffer with the hard economic times when she could just get a rich boyfriend and dump the broke ones.

“You see with these hard economic times, there’s nothing for free and am not ready to pay the price for those ‘free drinks’.There are other ways; you could just go to drink when it's happy hour. You could buy two at the price of one or three at the price of two,” she replied.

The shooting prices have for the past two months caused an outcry among the public. As a result President Museveni is to speak on the issue on Sunday May 22, 2022 at 8PM.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive and Sarah every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
