Olive to Kakwenza: If You're Criticizing The Government, Communicate In A Way People Understand

While talking about Government critic Kakwenza Rukirabashaija’s confirmed arrival in Germany, RX Radio Presenter Olive Najjuma has reproved the way the critic expressed his dissatisfaction with the Government.

Following his most recent communication via social media, Olive said that the language the novelist uses detracts people from the intended purpose of his message which ends up becoming pointless.

“In as much as I empathize with him over what allegedly happened to him, recently his posts have been so vulgar that I think if you're going to speak out against the ills of the Government, try to write in a language that even people who empathize with you can understand. If you go vulgar, a lot of it is going to be lost in translation,” she said.

Kakwenza fled the country 2 weeks ago to Kigali in Rwanda where he was flown to Malawi and then finally to Germany, according to his lawyer Samuel Wanda.

He fled to acquire specialized treatment after the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court declined his request to return his passport so that he could get special treatment for his wounds and damaged organs resulting from alleged torture inflicted on him during his time in detention.

The Novelist was arrested on 28 December, 2021 from his home in Kisaasi by unknown gunmen and held at unknown locations until January 11 when he was produced in court for offensive communication after making abusive tweets directed to the Commander of Land Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba and President Kaguta Museveni.

James Onen,The Fatboy Show Co-host with similar opinion to Olive’s, said that Kakwenza’s kind of approach to criticizing the government merely becomes melodrama and at the end leaves no impact.

“As much as all this drama is exciting and hilarious, I just feel it's the wrong way for us to engage in our political process because if it just hinges on melodrama, we are not going to get any serious work done. Political change needs people who are quietly doing the work, building coalitions and getting work done and not just flaring up on social media,” he reasoned.

The Fatboy show is hosted by James Onen aka Fatboy, Olive and Sarah every weekday from 6am to 10am on RX Radio.
